Garrett GTI-2500 Treasure Hound Depth Test

Garrett Treasure Hound imageThis is an attempt to test the typical depth that can be achieved using a two box detector, in this case the Garrett GTI 2500 PRO with Treasure Hound. As you can see in the accompanying video, I have a nice test bed with mild soil and located outside of any electrical towers or other causes of EFI interference. We buried three large objects (mail box size) at three different depths; 1 meter, 1.5 meter and 2 meters. The first round of testing is then to see with the freshly buried boxes what depth is achieved by the detector.

There will be a follow up test in 6 months after the objects (ferrous metal in this case) have a chance to corrode a bit and leave a bigger footprint in the ground. This will add to the depth the detector can achieve because first of all the objects will ‘look bigger’ (echo effect) and secondly on the newly buried objects the ground ‘conductivity’ has been broken.
